After upgraded to iOS 18, I found that search function was missing for Photo Albums. And the search function in iOS 18 Photos wasn’t able to search for the Photo album name. How to resolve this ?
It’s pretty clear that Apple hired 10-year-old to write iOS 18 and they didn’t test anything. as a longtime iPhone user, I will say without any hesitation whatsoever that this is the absolute worst version of iOS to have ever been released.
I checked the Nexboy forum link you provided and it simply asked people to wait for the next update. But there is no guarantee that the next update will fix the issues.
This problems make me never upgrade iOs
Open camera, press x at bottom of the page then albums will appear!
Agree this is a big problem that needs to be fixed ASAP. We have important travel tickets stored in albums and now can’t find them. Apple need to prioritise this.
For me, the search for albums, is not broken, just sometimes very, very slow.
When I am searching for an album by name, I now have to type the complete name of the album into the search field, otherwise it will not be found instantly. That is cumbersome, as my album names are long and descriptive and it is a lot of typing, and I have to remember the full name.
For example, I can find the album "2024_10_11_Provence_Tag_06_Luberon" quickly, when I enter the full name into the search, but not, when I enter just the start of the album name. When I just search for "2024_10" I have to wait for a quarter of an hour, until I am seeing a list of all album names starting with this prefix, and I have to tap the button "Show All", or I will only be seeing some of the 14 collections as a search results.
My library is not very large, just 70000 items, and it is not using "Optimize iPhone Storage", all photos and videos have been downloaded in full to the iPhone, so the search could be faster, like before.
Yep. Just tried it. Can’t search with key words. Should be able to search any word. Any. Phrase. Etc. iPad is a bit better but iPhone. Come on

I went to collections and hit modified which gives you general categories not the albums. So I am lost as to what to do next to find with ease my albums based on their name I gave them.
What shall we just add to the title so it shows up?

It appears the "Search" function is available, but only when you're looking at the default (Home page) of the photos app (all your photos).
But if you try to add a selected photo or photos to an album there's no "search" or "alphabetical order" option to find the album (you have to scroll through every album to add that photo??) NOT User friendly or innovative.

I agree, its made the use of photo albums very hard work. i hope apple releases a fix very soon !!
I found a even bigger problem in iOS 18 (now using iOS 18.1.1), when you add more than one photo in a new Photo Album, the photos you just added are shown in reverse order. Even worse the photo album using the LAST photo as the Key Photo of the album.
For example, when I add the photos IMG_7019.HEIC and IMG_7020.HEIC into a new album called "My Album"
IMG_7019.HEIC (Luggage Belt with Buckle Facing Down)
IMG_7020.HEIC (Luggage Belt with Buckle Facing Up)
After that, I checked "My Album" and found that IMG_7020.HEIC was listed in from of IMG_7019.HEIC and the Key Photo of "My Album" had chosen IMG_7020.HEIC instead of IMG_7019.HEIC.
Why Apple is making the iOS 18 Photos even worse than iOS 17 Photos ?
Same here! I’m a home stranger and have 175,000 photos organized into albums which I now can’t find by searching by album name. How am I going to do my job, Apple???

Hi, what I have noticed is that “Folders” do not return in searched but the “Albums” do.
It would be beneficial to have both Folder and Albums return.
The final example below with Asterisks returned other Albums related to Gardening not necessarily with Garden in the exact name.
How does the loss of photos app search capabilities get resolved by Apple? It’s a disaster. How do we protest/complain? Enough for me to want to move to a Samsung.
