Sequoia Calculator Paper Tape Gone?

Just upgraded to Sequoia. Lots of niceness; hooray, blah, blah, blah...

I use the Calculator - all the time; I use the Paper Tape - all the time.

Where did the Paper Tape go?

I see there is now a "Show History" - but it's grayed out when using "Scientific" in "RPN" mode.

Wait; what...?

Is there another toggle / workaround?

This may help with the missing tape on the calc app. I updated to Sequoia and discovered the tape missing. Grr. I always used it to check my entries for errors. I found that View-Show History - gives a truncated list of a long string of entries. But if I right-clicked on that truncated list, it showed the whole thing and also gave me the option of copying. So I could paste and print the tape if I needed it.

Thanks for the Product Feedback link.

I suppose is it the cost accountants that suggested Apple not promote that capability.

(For the feedback be useful (and to be fair to the persons posting feedback), Apple must: Pay employees that read the feedback, understand it, and pass on what they choose as worth consideration to the software architects and the user interface designers. And pay the architects and designers to take the time to listen to the first group of employees.

Not so.

Not if Apple keeps the History, pays attention to feedback on History,

and also restores PaperTape for us millions who find it just what the old time inventors of paper tape calculators intended it to be, used it from the start, and want it back.

This discussion should not be between people who like History and those who prefer paper tape, about which is better. It should be between people who want to help others use History, people who provide info on substitutes for macOS Calculator, and people who want Apple to pay attention to feedback from paying customers.

Ha, ha! So, is the joke on me? Did the designers choose to post a reply, first show the reply at the end of all the messages, way below the item replied to, but when I reply to my previous reply, shoot my previous off somewhat, and show my new reply at the end?

I suppose I could now read backwards and see what I learn.

... But enough for today.

Sorry, folks, but I'm too lazy to find my comments on this behavior above and copy them to the Apple Product Feedback site, as feeback on the user interface design here.

Not so.

Those who think it is an improvement DO count.

Some of us want the PaperTape interface.

But none of us who want Paper Tape think those who like History don't count.

If you like History, please use History.

Some of us like Paper Tape.

Some of us do not find any way to use History to get the record we want to see.

If there is a way to configure History so it shows the operands, the operations and the results in paper tape format, we have not found that described by Apple, nor by anyone posting here.

There was literally no reason to remove the paper tape. It requires what? Four lines of code. They should have just kept it alongside the new history feature. It doesn't simplify the interface by not having it. I't just reduces the functionality of the app. Yeah, you can kind of do the same thing with the history panel, but not exactly.

I guess you haven’t bothered to read the 7 pages of the thread you already posted to.
