With iOS 18 when I am playing audiobooks or music via Bluetooth to AirPods, or via USB to CarPlay, if the iPhone screen wakes up or goes to sleep there is a few second interruption in the sound.
I'd appreciate any ideas. I submitted feedback on this several times during the beta with no response from Apple.

I also have this problem on my AirPods Pro’s after updating to iOS18. Music just cuts out and I have to hit the song again where it starts off from the beginning.

What was the solution? Many others are having the same problem and it would be nice to know.
For me, since updating to iOS 18 my audio cuts out not only when the screen shuts off or is turned back on, but also anytime an app is opened or closed. I've had voice control accessibility installed since before the update and everything worked fine.

This worked for me. I'm really disappointed though. I love both features, but I can't have the audio messing up every time I touch my phone. I hope they find a way to fix voice shortcuts.
