Private Access to Photos - Setting Option Unavailable (iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17.6.1)
I am having issues with Photo permissions on one of my apps. Having read similar threads, this seems to be occurring across multiple apps including Instagram, photo editing apps, and more. For me specifically, it is happening in a sports app called Teamsnap.
When I go to post a picture during a live game, I am able to access my photos because access permissions to my photos are being denied. You can see this in the first two pictures.
Picture 1 shows the menu with the option to select pictures.
Within 2 seconds, picture 2 shows the icon in the upper left changing to the Privacy icon telling me there is an access issue.
When going into Settings --> Privacy and Security --> Photos, the location where I can edit app access to my Photos, something curious is happening. When looking at the permissions for the current apps, you can see in the picture below Teamsnap is set to Private Access so it cannot access my photos.
The curious part is when I go in to change the setting, the option is not available (see below).
There is NO option to adjust this setting or select specific images to allow access. This is where I feel there is some issue with iOS and I cannot figure out what it is. In my research online, I found similar issues others were having across multiple apps that access Photos, so this is not necessarily a Teamsnap specific app.
For reference and those suggesting the obvious, I have:
- Talked to the team manager on Teamsnap to make sure its not an admin setting on there.
- Uninstalled/reinstalled Teamsnap, although I am not sure if any residual Teamsnap data is still present on my device where iOS still doesn't like it.
- Forced restart of my device.
- Reset my Privacy under Settings --> General --> Transfer or Reset Phone --> Reset --> Reset Location and Privacy.
- iPhone 14 Pro running 17.6.1, I was running 17.5.1 when the issue occurred. I updated in the last two days to 17.6.1 and still have the issue.
Any assistance short of full reset of my phone would be greatly appreciated. The posts I have seen online show people having a similar issue dating back to 2023 so I do not think this is something new.
Thanks!
