WatchOS 10.6 Update Causing Message Notification Issues

After updating my Apple Watch Series 9 to WatchOS 10.6, message notifications that are silenced on my phone (iPhone 14 Pro Max) for specific group conversations are giving me notifications on my watch. I have my message notification settings set to mirror my iPhone, and I have checked that the group conversations are indeed set to "Hide Alerts" in the conversation settings, yet my watch is giving me the notification every time a message is received in the message threads. My watch only started doing this when I updated to WatchOS 10.6 on 7/29/2024, before the update I did not receive notifications on my watch for the silenced message threads.

Hey Everyone,


So, I think I figured it out with the help of Apple Support.


What we did is went into the message app on the watch and I discovered that it was making duplicates of the group messages that were not silenced on the watch. I deleted the duplicate threads. And also verified that the message threads were silenced on the watch by swiping from right to left on the conversation and then verifying that the purple bell icon is set to silent. Also, hard reset the watch by holding down the crown and the button at the same time until the apple icon appears.
