Logic i/o plugin doesn't function as expected
I've been having a rather frustrating issue for the past several weeks and am hoping someone on this forum can help. I cannot get my I/O plugin to function as expected and at this point think it is something wrong with my software perhaps?
My signal chain is: Mac Studio M2 Ultra Ventura 13.5 > Logic Pro 11.0.1 > (audio interface) Presonus HD8 outputs 3/4 > (outboard gear) Rupert Neve Master Bus > Presonus HD8 inputs 3/4.
The Presonus HD8 outputs 1/2 are to my monitors where I can hear everything as expected. The Presonus user manual says outputs 3/4 on the HD8 can be used to send signal to outboard gear for hybrid processing.
Within Logic: On any track (bus, instrument, midi - anything) I insert the I/O plugin I set the Out to 3/4 (which I assume is the outputs on my interface 3/4, and the input on the I/O I set to 3/4 (which I assume they mean the inputs on the interface) I don't know if they need to be opposite like with midi or not - so perhaps thats a question also?
I hit the PING button to determine the sample latency and I hear a tick as expected but at no point (regardless of what outboard gear I've tried) has there ever been a sample offset given. It always stays at 0 samples. That doesn't seem normal to me.
Further, I can turn any knob on my outboard gear and there are no observable changes to the audio. I've used some wild FX settings on my guitar pedals to test it and I've never been able to hear any change to the audio track.
Is there any insight as to what the issue might be? I've seen every YouTube video on the topic and they all plug in and start mixing right away and so it's really frustrating to keep getting this issue. I've contacted apple pro support and they said they don't provide technical support for these custom setups. But the only custom thing I'm trying to do is use the I/O plugin in its most basic way.
I'm grateful for any assistance.
Some afterthoughts: Can I/O only be used on audio tracks and not midi or Bus tracks?
