It's NOT on your phone. It hasn't been released publicly. And when it is, you have to opt in to Apple Intelligence, IF you even own an iPhone which is eligible to get Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro/15 Pro Max and all iPhone 16 models). So don't opt in to it. There, problem solved.

For those who want to move to a different phone because of the limited AI features introduced in iOS 18, may I suggest the AT&T model. It plugs into the phone jack of your home and no cellular plan is needed. That may be your only option. If you think that you will find a Google or Samsung, or any Android phone without AI, you would be very wrong.

You will find that Apple has been the only manufacturer taking a responsible approach to AI, by not only allowing you to opt-in for the feature, but protecting your private information if you do choose to opt-in. You are not seeing any other company that has put as much effort into on-device processing and Private Cloud Computing when using any external source.

Does AT&T still even make landline phones?

In 2019, I bought a house that had been renovated in 2018. It has no landline jacks. ;-)

Yep, I was looking at mine plugged into the wall when I posted that. I guess I don't have one of those fancy homes.

Funny enough I have read about conversion kits to use the existing telephone wiring in the home and convert them to USB charging faceplates. Attach the lines to a power adapter where they enter the house and plug into an outlet. Hopefully they are USB-C, otherwise another renovation may be in order soon.

Tools can get you jacks.

Been installing keystone outlets, cabling, and structured racks for a while now.

For wiring, this Leviton gear works quite well: https://leviton.com/products/residential/networking

“Khajit, err, Leviton has wares if you have coin”, as the kids might put it.

You do seem to be making the assumption that they didn't rip out all the wiring when they did the renovation. It wouldn't surprise me at all. They made some very weird choices. There was a plumbing hookup for the laundry but no electrical or gas connections. They removed the pipe that went to the outside spigot on the front of the house (but left the back one). And don't get me started on the di- and tri-pole switch configurations.

I’ve been running wires in existing structures for years.

This using meter-long drill bits, extensible poles, snakes, and am testing a magnetic contraption on the next project.

Hole saws work in gypsum wallboard, if needed. Drill out a plug in the wallboard, route the wiring. Replace the plug, fiberglass mesh and spackle, and paint it.

Using chair rail or wainscoting or baseboard can work too, depending in the decor.

Past a decade or two, every house has its idiosyncrasies. Some more than others. And weird choices. I’ve certainly seen enough plumbing-related weirdness.

But yes, I do much prefer running the wires before the interior finish is installed.

Random comments: running extra wire now is cheaper than not running enough wire later. And preferably run plenum grade cabling and not PVC, if there is a chance of critters around. Critters prefer to munch vinyl.

My house, if the records are correct, will be 100 next year. It's on a block where all the houses were originally identical. It's very interesting to see how they have evolved in different ways over the years.

Why do they force things we do not want.

Nothing is being forced on you. AI is not even installed unless you request it. How is that “forcing” something on you that don’t want? Please explain. You simply don't know what you are talking about and it’s tiring to read posts by users who have no clue, didn't bother to read previous posts, and simply knee-jerk complain.

I’m betting you won't respond back either.
