Stuck on age restrictions page while setting up new iPad for child

I’m having a difficult time setting up my son’s new iPad. I’m getting stuck on the age restrictions page. I can’t click anything. It just stays on the page. HELP

I've encountered this on several devices that I was setting up for donation. A simple account such as: Login: user, Password: password. This allows the machine to work for whomever receives it. However, every time I attempt it gets stuck at the demand that an age be specified.

If you are donating an apple device, it should not be set up with any type of account. Accounts not only require age, but they also require a method of payment if the user is going to be downloading any apps. Surely you are not volunteering to fund those. If you are going to donate used iPhones, iPads, etc., please follow the instructions on the link below.

Thx. Hadn't considered that. Will follow your suggestion. (But truthfully aren't you just a little creeped out at big sis apple? If you think teens can be blocked from finding most anything they want - well you've not been around them of late. Also, how do I reach to Apple's top level. I'm considering sending a signature required letter. Pity the poor admin that will have to deal with it.)

Interesting. several things missing here.

  • This age The demand has happened on several iMacs over the last 4-5 years. (No iPads involved.) Most recently on an old A1311 21" machine. Simply trying to give it to a friend (≈60 years old) that has few resources. Will now have to go and work on it there.
  • Carol B, no family plan and these machines have always been owned by adults (myself). Past that how would Apple be able to determine a SuperUser's age?
  • Melharg, interesting that you've not encountered this. Would love to know platform/OS you're working with most specifically how old it is. If you are inclined to pass that on, I'd appreciated it, though obviously it's no big deal.

where else may one register a critical concern with APPLE INC?

(Aside. I'm struggling with the well documented error in the High Sierra format/reinstall procedure which will not allow reinstall. Nearly impossible. Requires cmd-line work. Not relevant here, though does illustrate my increasing dismay at what Apple has become. Am working on another forum with this. Seems the only answer is a YouTube video.)
