iTunes Match is stuck on "waiting" status when adding new songs to Apple Music library

I just bought some new tracks from beatport and wanted to add them to my music library as I do it multiple times a week, but it's not working anymore. I have the issue since Wednesday noon.

What I usually do:

I add the songs via drag and drop to the library, mark them, right click on them and then I choose to add them to my library.

What should happen:

Normally, the system should match the songs with the Apple Music catalog and if the song is known, the status should change to matched, otherwise the system should upload the track. After that I can sync my other computer to get the new songs there, too, and I should see the new songs on my mobile phone Apple Music App.

What happens since yesterday:

After adding the new music, the process is stuck and the status on all newly added tracks is "waiting". Nothing more happens.

What I tried already:

  • I tried to add the songs on my Windows iTunes Client instead of using the Music App on my Mac. Same issue - nothing happens
  • Tried another internet connection (LAN, WLAN and even a totally different internet provider)
  • I tried to remove all newly added songs, update the library (which works without error) and then re-add only one track. Same issue - nothing happens

Does anyone else have a similar issue?

I just tried to contact Apple support by chat but the result was as expected. Level 1 support knows nothing and is unable to help. He told be to schedule a call with Senior Support but I do not have time today.

Really sad to see that Apple is not able to solve the issue at their own. If it will not be solved until later today I will try to contact support on weekend by phone.

I do indeed have the same issue but I'm using Windows 11 (Sorry, I know, I know...) All I get is just the icon spinning around, not uploading nor matching. Looks like it's really close but no track count or track names are being 'matched'. (See image below)

I've signed in, signed out, turned sync on, turned sync off, meddled about with Genius, restarted etc. etc. Still the same.

Glad it's not just me, fellow 'Matchers'. Bit boring innit?

Looking online this thing seems to be happen from time to time, a few people wonder what's going on, then a few days later everything is back to normal with no explanation from the big 'A' as to what just went on!?

It's only our precious time being wasted...

Let's hope it resolves soon, stay safe friends!

Yes! This happened to me earlier today. I loaded a few CD’s onto Music. I have iTunes Match, and the iCloud status for two of the CD’s says “waiting.” I was wondering if it was an iCloud space issue (do I need to buy more) or is iTunes Match just at capacity. I have a large music library but it’s hard to tell because there’s nothing that says how many songs you have. I need to figure this out too, someone please help!

I just contacted Apple Support via chat myself, got escalated to a phone call. So I just gave out my phone number to the guy on a chat. What could possibly go wrong? (I have two numbers so I gave them my lesser used one!!)

Anyhoo, he suggested I download 'Apple Music' for PC!!? Ummm okaaay. Is this a separate app I asked, worrying my finely curated library was just about to be smashed into oblivion with a new Apple app - he replied in the positive. So I downloaded it and guess what, it now too is seemingly stuck trying to update my iCloud library. It's the stuff of dreams. And iTunes seems to have been usurped by Apple Music after all. Sigh...

He said I can go straight back to the case no. if needed but sadly, I have real life to attend to at the moment, so it'll have to wait.

For the record, the Apple Music app does look very nice in dark mode but it's a bit dumbed down from what I'm used to with iTunes. Oh well...

Same issue for me since 2 days now. Tried it from 2 different Mac's. The songs which are intended to be matched still stuck on waiting. I am wondering what would be the next steps. iTunes Match Apple Status is showing all is ok.

Since I am using the mp3 to m4a converted tracks after matching in my DJ software to prevent missing tracks and do all pre processing (Key detection / Energy) on m4a files this is a little bit a blocker for me.

Same thing is happening to me. But it seems to vary between albums/files. I tried to upload a specific album and it wasn’t working getting stuck on waiting etc but then I randomly tried another album that was new and it worked just fine. Is it possible some artists are putting something on their files to avoid this or is definitely something random and intermittent ? FYI I bought the album that wasn’t working from Amazon music.
