Siri saying “should I turn it on or off?”

I used to be able to just say the name of an accessory such as “kitchen light” and if it was already on, Siri would simply turn it off. If the accessory was off, Siri would turn it on.

Now Siri doesn't do anything besides repeating "should I turn it on or off?"

It's driving me crazy. If the accessory is already turned off, the only practical action is to turn it on. So WHY ask to turn it off? How is Siri going to turn the accessory off when it is already turned off? It is idiotic.

is there any way to disable this confirmation?

I have this problem too - it's ridiculous:

  • If I have, say, the study light on, I used to be able to say 'Siri study light', and Siri would turn it off, or turn it on it it was already off.
  • Now if the study light is on, and I say 'Siri study light', she replies 'Should I turn it on or off'. If I reply on, well, nothing happens - because it's already on stupid!
  • If I reply 'off' Siri rarely understands my 'on' or 'off' reply - most of the time she asks a 2nd time and then does nothing. Once in a blue moon she'll actually turn it on or off.

Siri knows the lights status (on or off) so asking is pointless - just do the action that is opposite to the current light state, otherwise why would I be asking Siri to do something!!
