iPhone 14 running very slow

In December, 2023 my iPhone 14 started running super slow, affecting internet browsing, social media platforms, and many other apps. I type in a safari search topic then I have to wait 1-3 minutes to get results. Next click gives me the same delay etc… I searched for similar issues, used all of the Apple troubleshooting options, and finally found a large number of people that said theirs did the same thing after Apple updated to 17. I did not have any problems at all until after my phone installed version 17. I have had my phone for less than a year and it was an overnight difference from everything working fast and well to everything just stopped/crawled… and still crawling. Is this a known issue with Apple and is it being worked on?

iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 17

Has anyone figured out why this phone has become a potato yet? I cant even connect to the web when i have full bars, maps dont load, siri says "sorry there was a problem" way too much now, apps freeze on update. Going to run through the troubleshooting process again just to make sure. Sure would like to know if there is a fix other than switching brands.

I’m having same issue. Three iphones and an ipad. All running 17. Two apple ids even. All the updates apple released OS 17 hasn’t fixed the problem, or even admitted to it (i read the update before installing it). Please, Apple. I am a techie. Please don’t ask about troubleshooting. Yes, factory reset fixes it - because the device is no longer running OS 17. So, yes, “iPad OS 17” is having same problem. Well, let’s see if 17.6 fixes it. I literally just got notification of this update. Apple: please focus on quality, like you used to, and not trying to devices and operating systems out at same speed of your competitors. Apple customers are loyal because of security and quality. Thank you. That’s why those flip phones don’t tempt me. Quality and durability are very important. Thank you.

I deleted my Norton 360 app and IVerify App, that scan my phone for viruses and threats. The apps also created a protective VPN, all of which are very important I suppose, but these apps were creating serious usage the lag and some of my apps would not load, because of Norton 360 or IVerify, of which diminished the use of my phone by 40%. For example My Marriot Bonvoy App would load, while others loaded fine. My safari loading searches was intermittent. I strongly suggest start with security tracking apps. Going to do more research on best iPhone virus protection, as I do not want to be without some level of security.

I had same problem and the fix ultimately was incredibly easy.

Restart your phone by:

1) Push/Release: "Up Volume" (Left side of phone)

2) Push/Release: "Down Volume" (Left side of phone)

3) Push/Hold: "ON Button" ** (Right side of phone)

**HOLD the "ON Button" until the Apple icon appears. Note: your phone will shut off and then eventually the "Apple" appears and then you release. This takes 15+ seconds. See video below for same info.

17.4 is the latest version.

And what troubleshooting steps did you do?

  1. checked storage - over 70gb available
  2. Checked network conditions often - other family members on the same mobile network have no issues - non iPhone users (issue is consistent wether I am on WiFi or cellular data, regardless of where I am at)
  3. I constantly close out apps so not too many are running at one time.
  4. I don’t allow my phone to get too hot or cold
  5. Battery is running at 90% of maximum capacity
  6. Low power mode is turned off
  7. Deleted apps that I no longer use
  8. It is up to date on iOS versions. It is set to auto update when there is a new one at night time. Currently it is on 17.4
  9. Background app refresh is off
  10. turned location services to never for most of my apps. While using for a small number of them.

I am sure I tried more things, but this includes the suggested list from Apple as well as a few others I found and tried all.

It’s been an ongoing issue since early December and I’m just getting quite frustrated at this point.
