No notifications for messages

I’m on an iPhone 15 pro running iOS 17.3.1 and I’ve stopped receiving notifications for my messages. I’ve gone through and made sure notifications were turned on universally as well as for individual contacts. Vibration also isn’t working for messages when on silent despite turning it on in settings, in both accessibility message and trying both “always” and “when silent”. Very frustrating as I have to continually check the app to see if anyone is texting me. I’ve done a hard reset and gone through what I imagine are all of the settings options to make this work with no luck. Any ideas?

I’m having the same issue. It's been pretty much since I got the phone last year that imessage notification sounds and vibrations are not working for random contacts. I've even stopped wearing my Apple watch because the notofications were messed up on it as well, and I thought maybe that was interfering with my phone notifications behaving the way they should. This has caused me a lot of trouble at my job(educational IT) because I am not being alerted when people text me needing help. I have also gone through every troubleshooting step I can think of, and it is still not working properly. I really hope this issue is addressed soon as I'd like to stop having to check my phone every couple of minutes for texts.

If you are on roaming select a provider instead of ‘automatic’

i had that issue and nowadays Apple support became useless. They had me try several solutions that didn’t help.
