Mic not working on calls, WhatsApp or FaceTime after installing IOS 17.3.1 on iPhone 11

After I installed the new update yesterday, my microphone has stopped working for calls and voice recordings. It still works for the camera when I record videos.

I've tried resetting all settings, check Screen Time, restarted the phone, check the privacy and microphone settings. For some reason only WhatsApp asked to use the mic when I reset it. Now that is the only app that appears under Microphone as apps that have access. Otherwise it shows no apps with access or the ability to add any. I also cleaned the mic holes. I have read through and tried everything I could find so far on the internet. I can't seem to uninstall and reinstall the software either. Help!

Son’s iPhone 11 (8 months old) front microphone stopped working, wouldn’t work on apps, I spent hours trying to do fixes last night and investigate online, then the apps stopped working , then it started crashing, all after the 17.3.1 update. When I placed in the issues online it stated get apple to look at it. Took to apple today and they had to provide a new phone (which they did quiet quickly) due to hardware issues. I was told it’s very rare to have hardware issues !! I explained I had read that people are saying they have an 11 and since the update 17.3.1 apple are having to replace phones. They said that can happen but it’s rare. It all seems very very odd to me. Apple can fix the software issues from this update I would take it in if you can. If it’s hardware issue and out of warranty I don’t know what to say, my other children have ones out of warranty and I’m now reluctant to update with the new update. She stated the new update won’t work if there are hardware issues in the phone that have not been previously found. His phone hardware issues were apparently the compass? (She stated it was probably always there and as he never used that bit of the phone it wasn’t picked up) again I would say it seems odd to me.

This is SO odd! I have the exact opposite problem after my phone auto updated a few days ago. I hit mute on FT, and it’s useless. There’s feedback and can hear everything. I tried to mute while I was unpacking groceries and idoling in a car for a minute and found out mute doesn’t work. There is a button now called “speaker” and can’t be turned off according to you tube videos (spent an hour online because this is absurd).

I assumed they want to listen to us even at the cost of actual function. Now reading your post, I wonder if mic issues are a huge bug in this update. My phone is older and not on warranty.

this is why I usually avoid updates until they make me! Never update an iPhone until you research all the issues and security we are losing.
