Unsupported iDVD format
My daughter has many iDVD formatted files that will not work on her newer Mac . What format do they need to be in and is there a conversion software available?
MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

On the icon of one of the iDVD projects, do a Control-click/Show Package Contents/Contents/Resources, and see if you can find any media in the resources folder.
If there is any media there, you can copy (copy, not move) the media to your desktop and play it there.

As you may know, iDVD was discontinued 12 years ago. It will not run on any modern Mac; and there is no successor app that will run iDVD projects.
You would need an old Mac running Lion (10.7.x) or earlier in order to run iDVD to open iDVD projects. iDVD used to be included with all Macs prior to the release of OS X Lion. On Lion you would need to install iLife 11 in order to get iDVD.
Exactly what files are you trying to retrieve?
Let me ask my daughter
They are photos and movies in a video slideshow.
Hi,
Did your daughter save the iDVD projects using the archive function, or did she just do a normal save?
— Rich
Also, did your daughter burn any of these projects to a DVD disc that she has kept?
— Rich
She has saved these files to an external hard drive.
Thanks for the help.
You are welcome.

If you have a recently older Mac that can run Mojave, you can run iDVD from an external drive, but it is best to move on.
Thanks
