Unlocking an old iPhone XR
My child was playing on my old iPhone XR and changed everything to create her own Apple ID and now it’s locked and I can not figure out how to unlock it
iPhone 15 Plus, iOS 17
If the child does not know the password:
If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
If the child does not know the passcode:
If you forgot your iPhone passcode, use your Mac or PC to reset it - Apple Support
It my be possible to reset the passcode if you know the Apple ID Password:

If you have the original purchase receipt from Apple or Authorized Apple Seller, you can request to have the Activation Lock removed since it will be locked to the Apple ID that is logged into the device:
