How to clean Printer heads without utility settings in the new system

system preferences used to have a link to cleaning and I’m not sure why it’s gone. Even the Epson utility page no longer has an option. When I get time, I guess I’ll need to contact Epson customer service. I did software and firmware update with Epson today. Still no luck. It’s seems like the option disappeared on Mac sometime ago. But generally speaking, it looks like certain options in Printer Preferences vanished after updating. I’m not exactly sure what update screwed this whole thing up. At least I’m glad I came across this thread because I thought I was having “a moment “. 🤭

I have found that these types of printers come with instructions which include the cleaning of their heads. I suggest that you read the instructions that came with your printer. If you no longer have them, then the information likely can be found on the printer's web site.

I had the time to play around with the printer and finally figured out how to clean it from the tiny built-in printer screen. Oh, and YouTube. Still, I wish that the option was available in the utility. I’ve seen another thread dealing with this same situation so, it’s definitely a thing.

Of course the option you are referring to is part of the printer’s driver/utility/firmware software which is not developed by Apple. Your complaint should go to Epson, not Apple. Printer manufacturers develop software for their products and Apple makes them available in updates.

What model is the Epson printer..?

Head cleaning can also be done from the Menu on the printer.
