Re-installing Safari
Safari keeps locking up, requiring a forced quit. Something’s not right and I’d like to start small before I re-install macOS in its entirety. Any suggestions?

Safari is part of macOS and cannot be reinstalled by itself. It can also not be deleted by the user. You will need to troubleshoot your issue or reinstall macOS.

Yes, macOS is up to date.
Clearing website data incrementally (via Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data > choose one or a few sites, vs trying to clear it all at once, which just made it lock up) appears to have fixed things, although it required 10-20 forced quits (couldn’t select too many sites at once - sometimes could only clear them one at a time).
Edit - No, Safari still locks up trying to access web sites, even with cache and cookies cleared. Until I have the time and inclination to do a full re-install I’m going to switch to Firefox and treat Safari as abandonware. If I get any smart ideas like rebooting in safe mode and removing the Safari executable via the command line, I’ll provide an update on how that goes.
Good luck, anyone who encounters this problem - just uninstalling and re-installing Safari, if it were like lesser software, would have solved the problem in 15 minutes instead of the days of dilly-dallying about it actually took.
Apple, take notes.
FYI - trying to remove stored web site data (Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data > Remove All) also locks up Safari.
Also - no other web browser (Firefox, Chrome, Tor) installed on my machine is having trouble accessing the Internet.
Yours is an outlier experience and not the norm or even common by any means at all.
Thank you for your opinion.
