Since about a week my Whatsapp red icon to show there are new messages does not show anymore.
I have deleted and reinstalled Whatsapp, changed settings, but it still does not work.
Iphone SE with iOS 16.6.1

Go to settings > WhatsApp > Notifications > Badges-turn it on .
Note : if you get a notification from WhatsApp and you open the app the badges will disappear even if you don’t open the message in the WhatsApp!
would like to know why the red icon disappeared on Whatsapp even after deleting the app the opened it again
