Handwritten note disappears from iPad Notes app, BUT typed text remains :(

So recently upgraded to an M2 iPad Pro 11 , one of the reasons was so I could use it to take notes during training / meetings etc .

Been using the notes app for years on my devices and love it all typed of course , as an engineer being able to handwrite and doodle/sketch was something I was excited about so saved my hard earned and got the pro a month ago. It has been working fine during my numerous tests at home .

Started an intense 4 day course 4 days ago, used the notes app in anger to make handwritten notes for the duration

like this -

Create a new note - Type a heading - hit the screen with the pencil and start writing and drawing down the page , no problem for the first 3 days probably 45 long notes .

Do the same thing today , come to recap through some notes before taking the exam and there's nothing saved from today at all . about 20 notes in all, the typed headings are there, anything i imported (photos etc) is there but none of the stuff that really matters the handwriting .

All the handwriting is gone , as far as I know nothing is different other than I was sitting at a desk 5m from yesterdays .

angry and cheesed off is an understatement .

Mac was on the whole time as I was using safari for research , internet while not blazing fast was on all day as far as I know , iPhone , iPad , Mac are all up to date .

Nothing in deleted ,

The note shows the created time , the typed header and says handwritten note. the only thing missing is the little picture of the note unless it had something imported into it .
