Apple TV - Volume control issues

I recently purchased an Apple TV 4K Model A2843. I installed it onto my Samsung smart TV that also uses a Samsung soundbar.

The problem is that when using the Apple TV, the volume lowers by itself. If I try to increase the volume, even when going to full volume, the sound is quite low. This seems to be an Apple TV-only problem since the TV and sound works perfectly when using the Amazon FireStick.

I originally purchased the Apple TV to get better performance than the FireStick, however, the volume issue makes it useless.

The Apple TV is connected to Ethernet and the TV HDMI. The soundbar is also connected to the TV HDMI in the arc2 slot.

Any ideas what is goin on with this?

Yep. On your 2nd post (reading the thread for the first time just now), I figured your remote needed a full reset and to be freshly paired to the ATV4K. It may well happen again - I've had the original ATV4K for a couple years now and I've had to reset my remote once or twice.

Search for 'Apple TV Remote not working' and follow the last most extreme reset procedure in this article: If your Siri Remote or Apple TV Remote isn't working - Apple Support.

If you were actually on the phone with Apple Support folks and they failed to walk you through that process, SMH.

Update to the above post:

Today, when I turned on the Apple TV, the sound level was at "0" (no sound). I was able to raise the volume, (numbers increasing) however, as soon as I let go of the volume up control, the volume immediately went back to zero (no sound).

Again, the TV, Soundbar, and FireStick work perfectly. It seems to be turning out that the Apple TV is a poor replacement for the FireStick.

Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Update - February 2024

It turns out that the remote was defective, however, it took a bit to get there. After a number of lengthy diagnostic sessions, Apple acknowledged that the unit may be defective.

The Apple TV unit, was replaced under warranty, however, they did not want the remote. The new Apple TV had the same problems, and with another lengthy diagnostic session, Apple acknowledged that the remote may also be defective.

With the new remote, the Apple TV now works properly.

All together, it took multiple phone calls, diagnostic sessions, and two device shipments to get it working.

Thank you for your response.

We tried re-pairing, resetting the box, restarting, basically everything. I was on the phone about three hours over several days in diagnostic sessions. we repeated all of the steps multiple times with the same results each time.

Eventually, I guess Apple got tired of me calling and replaced the box, and eventually the remote.

I still have some weird sound issues - some channels are normal with the sound level at 18-20, while other channels need to be up at 45-60. It is a nuisance, especially when changing from a soft channel to a regular channel and forgetting to change the volume back to normal before changing the channel.

In all fairness, the Apple TV is much faster than the Firestick.
