Sorry, there was a problem with Apple Music

I'm gonna copy this verbatim, which another poster posted a few years ago. I have the same problem, intermittent, with both HomePods and HomePod minis, not being used as default speakers for my Apple TV. It happens most often when I request a playlist, as opposed to a specific album or artist. Very frustrating! Here's the post:

When I ask my HomePod to "hey siri, play some music." it replies "here is some music just for you" then there is a silence before it times out and replies 'Sorry there was a problem with apple music'.

The problem is intermittent and is temporarily fixed by removing the device from Home App and then re-installing it, but then the problem comes back randomly minutes, hours or days later.

Sometimes the problem goes away by itself for a little while.

The device is connected to the Internet because queries for "What's the weather like?" always succeed.

Here is some advice I posted in another forum:

"Eventually I went to Apple TV settings for Users & Accounts. My setting for “Recognise my voice” was turned off (despite Siri responding to me). My partner’s name was listed and “recognise my voice” was turned on but grayed out (She had made this setting in the Home app on her iOS device - under Home Settings).

Anyway I turned on “Recognise my voice” for myself. Suddenly Homepod Siri also started accepting her requests. Let’s see if it lasts!

So… it seems that the Primary User must have “Recognise my voice” turned on for the Apple TV in order for other (listed) users to be recognised."

However we still sometimes get the "Sorry..." message. It seems to be associated with a clash between Apple TV and Homepod settings.

I have six HomePods around the house. They've been working great with the occasional issue from time to time. Over the last couple of months I've had many more issues including:

  1. My phone stops detecting them and won't let me control them
  2. Music stops playing on all of them
  3. Music stops playing on just one of them while the others continue
  4. I get the "There was an issue with Apple Music" error

It's getting more and more frustrating. My internet seems to be fine because I have no issues streaming TV or working from home. Is there any error log I can use to see what's going on? Without that I can't imagine there's anything I can do other than cross my fingers.

Sorry, I have no answer other than a confirmation that I have the same issue.

Earlier today I ask my OG HP's paired to my ATV to play my Jazz playlist shuffled. Yep, she eventually replied with the Sorry, there.........statement. Restarted router, homepods to no avail.

Went to one of my Mini's asking for the same playlist - worked perfectly!

FWIW, this has been going on for several years off and on. Obviously new iterations of the OS have made no change. Quite frustrating.
