Anyone have recent experience connecting Macbook Air M2 to Asus ProArt display (PA279CRV) or similar?

I recently purchased a 2023 Macbook Air M2 with MacOS 14 Sonoma. I want to connect an external 27" monitor and the Asus ProArt PA279CRV seemed a good choice however, I've found several comments online about difficulties connecting the MBA to Asus PA monitors via USB-C.

Asus seems to have been aware of the problem since earlier in 2023 as they've more recently posted comments and workarounds on their website,

Does anyone have any recent experience to confirm whether I should expect a problem or not? It seems I may need a windows computer to update the Asus firmware and I only have the Macbook and a Chromebook available. (Since there are no Asus support centers near me, I am reluctant to buy from Amazon on the off chance I have to have a Windows computer to do the firmware update.)
