How to stop duplicate texts when texting myself within iMessage!

I started a new conversation because the last person who posted this didn’t get many answers and it’s something that DRIVES ME CRAZY too : ) There must be a way or a setting that will allow me to message myself and only have one entry show, not duplicates. I know that I am both the sender and the recipient of these texts, but the computer knows this as well- why can’t it just show the text one time in this case? We can put a man on the moon, but…. Any solutions out there? (I too find using I message faster and easier than opening Notes)
