Kindle app crashing consistently on iPadOS 17.2

Just a few minutes ago, after working perfectly, my Kindle Reader app closes after about 3 seconds. I've tried a hard restart twice with no results. I really don't want to lose the hundreds of books I have so I am hesitant to delete the app. I'm using a 9th Gen iPad with IOS 17.2.


This began when trying to download my latest book purchase from Amazon. I did try opening other books that I already had but it still shuts down.
