Static in left AirPods Pro (1st gen) when noise cancellation is turned on.

After starting music or streaming video, it will sound fine for a couple minutes. Then some static/white noise appears in only the left one covering up most of the audio. Static goes away when noise cancellation and transparency are disabled. AirPod Pro Firmware 6A300. iPhone is at 17.1.2. This just started happening a couple weeks ago. They are out of AppleCare coverage. I tried the reset procedure in an Apple support article, but it did not help.

I know a replacement is $89. Curious if anyone knows of other reset procedures before I go down that route.

Thanks for any help.

My partner's Airpods Pro (Gen 1) had the same issue. I updated the phone software, factory reset the Airpods, and deep cleaned them, but it didn't resolve the issue.

After taking it to the Apple store they told us that the sound testing results showed that it was a defect from the old model and that they were not under warranty. I recommend you clean them and take them to the Apple store to run a test (we didn't pay anything for the testing and it took them like 10 min). If it's an easy fix maybe you'll spend less than the $89 replacement.
