Sluggish and unresponsive iPhone SE

My fairly new (~6 months old) iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation -- not exactly sure) is intermittently sluggish and unresponsive to touch screen input. I have read through the support articles and checked everything I could but have not yet fixed the issue. Battery capacity is 95%, low power mode is off, storage used is 61.66 GB of 128 GB, and I have restarted the phone several times. What else can I do?

Yes. I’m able to restart the phone using the standard method of holding down the power button and have done so several times. The problem still persists. The phone will work fine for a good bit ( hour or so) but then start to respond slowly if at all to touch screen input. It acts like its resources are over taxed and is being asked to do too much even though I am sure to close any unused apps and the phone has plenty of memory and updated software.
