Gmail Loading Slow in Mail on iPhone and iPad running 17.1.1

Recently I've noticed that the iPhone and iPad Mail apps are taking some additional time "Checking for Mail". Sometimes it can take a while, other times it's just a little longer, but it's definitely slower. I can't tell if this started just after the iOS 17 release, or 17.1.1., and to complicate things further, I recently migrated from an iPhone 12 to an iPhone 15 Pro. Most definitely did not have this issue with the 12, so I first attributed it to some bad migration of data between the phones. So I literally just finished manually removing then adding back all of my email accounts in Mail on the iPhone, maybe I am seeing some improvement, hard to tell. Wondering if anyone else has experienced a sudden increase in that "Checking for Mail" time frame, and what if anything have you done to try and fix that? Thanks.
