Transafering emails from iphone to ipad

Have Apple got real yet and provided the facility to transfer email accounts from iphone to ipad? I have 22 email accounts set up over the years and i can;t remember all the different passwords.

I have emails set up on various devices and have no desire to go in and change all the passwords just to achieve this one simple task. I'm ancient and I do have trouble setting these things up with all this imap and pop3 incoming /outgoing smtp stuff. It is pretty essential from a business and personal point of view that I am still able to use email accounts on the main devices I use and don;t want to screw thos up just to get them on ipad.

Cheers

Thank you for the comprehensive response which I guess reinforces what I had already found/thought. I do like you last suggestion though. If I back up my iphone to itunes can I then upload that back up onto the ipad?

Thank you

Thank you very much for the answer - I'll certainly bear in mind your thoughts on password noting - I am in the process of doing my will and will need to collate all that sort of info for my solicitor so it may be that I have to make up loads of new ones. Or simplify things with the same password for everything with the app in front:)

Thanks for your help LotusPilot - have you got one? ( a Lotus that is - you may be interested in the new Lotus Hypercar - electric with 2000hp. Bugatti do one too!! They make electric cars useable - recharging to full battery charge in about 20 minutes. 0-60 2 secs 190 mph. You have to love them (except for the ticket price).

All the best

It is essential that you keep an independent record of your email account passwords - as without these, it will be impossible to access or manage the accounts.

While Apple's transfer processes will transfer the account settings between devices during initial setup of a device, in many cases the Mail Provider may require the account to be verified - or in some cases and different App-specific password created for each device that accesses the email account.

If you have forgotten your email account passwords, you may need to recover access to the account(s) by following the procedure required by your Mail Provider(s).

As mentioned, some email providers now require the use of App Specific Passwords when accessing mail over IMAP or POP3. If this applies to your email account, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.

If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.

More information about AOL’s App Specific Passwords can be found here:

For Yahoo, more information can be found here:

Transfer

These support pages should get you started with setup of your new iPad - and the methods of transferring your data from old to new iPad:

Set up your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support

Transfer data from your previous iOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Use Quick Start to transfer data to a new iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – Apple Support

If the donor iPad, from which you are transferring your data precedes iOS12.4, QuickStart will not be available.

“Transfer” is rather a misnomer. In reality, your data and setup is merely cloned to the new device. Nothing is moved or removed from the original device.

An alternative is to restore either an iCloud or iTunes backup to the new device:

Apps are not directly transferred between devices. For Apps, the transfer process creates a record of the Apps that are installed on the donor iPad - and it is this record of installed Apps that is transferred to the target (new) device. For Apps that are still available for download from the App Store, the corresponding Apps are automatically downloaded and installed from the App Store.
