Just bought a new 3rd generation Apple TV remote. All the buttons work but the Mute button does not. The Mute and Power button were the 2 reasons I bought this remote to replace the old black one that does not include these 2 buttons. Any direction would be appreciated.

I don't have an Apple TV remote with a mute button, but the Apple TV remote app has a mute button on it. I noticed that the mute button works when I listen to a show using Bluetooth headphones. It does not work when I listen to the audio through my television speakers.
My television is a bit old and does not have CEC. So, I cannot control the volume on the television through the HDMI connection. I have to use TV via IR. I suspect that if I had a TV with CEC, I would be able to mute the audio through the television speakers using the Apple TV remote app.
I have the same issue, as my mute button does not work.
