iCloud Private Relay Unavailable

Private Relay Unavailable message is appearing on daily basis and remains unavailable for 6+ hours a day. Called Tech Support, was told intermittent problems with some users. Was having this problem first with MacBook Pro 16, 2019 with Intel chip and T2 security chip. Just purchased new MacBook Pro 16 M2 Max, 2023, same problems. Not getting any answers from Apple Support. Is anyone else having problems with Private Relay Unavailable?

Giving update: With private relay on and message saying it was unavailable, I was unable to open a chat session with Apple Support. I had to turn off private relay in order to start a chat session. Once connected, I sent screen shots of desktop message and iCloud message saying "Private Relay Unavailable." Important to note that private relay was working on all my other devices (iPad Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max) so only devices impacted were my Mac laptops. Apple had me create a test user on my Mac, switch to test user. I had to disconnect from the chat since changing to test user would terminate the chat session. After switching to test user, private relay came back on. Switching back to my user account, private relay still worked. I made no other changes. This was two days ago and private relay has continued to work. Not sure why and not sure what the problem was. If any changes, I will post another update.

Another update, just completed 3rd call to Apple support. Work around solution was to turn off Wifi, connect USB-C ethernet (Belkin). Private Relay still unavailable. Disconnected ethernet, left Wifi off, now "Private Relay is Active" message showed on desktop. This was with no networking. Turned Wifi back on, private relay remains active. Completed restart, private relay still active after restart. So far, private relay is still working. Apple Support documented these steps for anyone else that contacts them for this problem.

3. Access iCloud: Choose "iCloud" from the sidebar.

4. Find Private Relay: Locate "Private Relay" in the list.

5. Disable: Uncheck the box or click the toggle to turn off Private Relay.
