Accessing Recently Deleted Messages app crash This is not a question, more of a solution, since no one was able to figure this one out. When accessing Recently Deleted in iMessage the app completely crashes and will not allow access. Tapping on the Menu icon to open the sidebar, then tapping on Recently Deleted seems to be where the bug lies. Instead, Swipe from the left to access the sidebar and now the Recently Deleted folder will open without crashing the app. iPad mini 6, wifi+cellular, 256GB, iPadOS 17.2, non beta.

Messages frozen and crashes on IOS 17.6 Ever since updating to iOS 17.5.1 a while back my Messages app rarely works. Usually usually if you bring the app up, it’s just a blank black screen and all you can do is kill it or wait a little while and it’ll crash on its own. On the rare occasion you can actually use the app. It’ll only work for a couple minutes and then crash. I was hoping that the 17.6 update would fix it, but no. I have tried the focus trick. I have reset the phone. Is anyone else having this issue with 17.6 still?

Hello ketan_pagare,

If the Messages application is unable to open, try completely quitting and re-opening it: Quit and reopen an app on iPhone

Also try restarting the device: Restart your iPad

If the application still won't open after that, you'll want to contact Apple to report the issue: Get Support
