Recent attachments won’t open in iOS mail search

Previously in iOS mail, tapping on the search bar would show recent searches and also recently received document attachments. Especially handy to check a weekly roster.

Since upgrading to iOS 17, the recent attachments still show but can’t be opened or interacted with in any way.

The email account is a gmail one but was working fine before iOS 17. Anyone else have the same issue or aware of a fix?

Hello pedro12345,

We advise making sure that your Gmail app (if that is what you are using to access your mail on your iPhone) is updated by following this support article:

How to manually update apps on your Apple device

“1. Open the App Store.

2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.

3. Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All."

If you have not done so already, please make sure to restart your iPhone by following these steps: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support.

Reaching out to Gmail support directly can also be helpful to determine if there is a necessary software change needed to update their mail client for use with iOS 17.

We hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist with anything else at all. Take care.
