Wired Apple keyboard doesn't work after updating to latest Ventura 13.6 on Mac Min M2 Pro

On new Mac mini M2 Pro, worked fine with old wired Apple keyboard (model A1243) via USB A port with pre-installed Ventura version. After updating to latest Ventura 13.6 the keyboard is not recognised, doesn't work. I swapped ports with wired optical mouse and the port is fine. After talking to Apple Support (case 102110830206) I connected an ancient Dell wired keyboard to same port and it works. Apple keyboard still not working. Any advice how I get my Apple keyboard to work with an Apple product?!

Update after speaking with Apple Support: Rebooted in safe mode (with old Dell k-b), logged in, then swapped keyboard for Apple one, no joy. Rebooted in normal mode twice and now old Apple keyboard works! Thank you for Apple Support's advice.

I have a 2023 MacMini M2Pro and trying to connect a 1243 wired keyboard. Is there a specific port to use to get this to work. I currently using a Dell keyboard but want to switch to the Apple 1243. I have tried different ports, rebooting several times, no luck. I have tried to use System preferences, keyboard and try to change, no luck. Suggestions?

I had the same problem with 13.6. Now after reading some other posts by connecting the old Apple USB keyboard with the extension cable that came with the original keyboard I finally got joy. Others have said that you may be able to disconnect the extension cable and it will have reset but I have not tried as I am happy to have the keyboard working again.
