Keeps hanging and rebooting

I had an earlier Apple TV 4K that had the same problem, hence I bought a new one that arrived today. This new Apple TV 4k is updated to the new OS version and connected to internet via cable. At random it freezes the picture on screen, the sound continues for some seconds and it hangs. After a bit of time it reboots and it continues to play again. Sometimes this happens several times before it continues again.

Since this is a new TV 4k, it is not a hardware issue, my guess is the new OS!?

How will this be solved?

This could be related to the TV you're using with the Apple TV or the cables to connect them. Try the following for a solution:


  • You could test the issue out on another TV and see if the issue continues.
  • You can also test other HDMI cables: Set up your Apple TV


You mentioned that you purchased a new Apple TV 4K, if it's still within the return period (14 calendar days), you can contact Apple to discuss your options: Get Support
