Anyone having Apple Card Auto-Pay Issues?!

I'm having/had Apple Card issues for the second time today, I decided to turn on auto-payments for my installment on my iPad Pro, as I received several emails from Apple encouraging me to do so. I went to the wallet app selected the card and turned on auto-payments. I happen to look at my checking account several hours later and $600 had been taken out. I hadn't selected any amount in Auto-Payment, as it's a predetermined 1/12th of the iPad cost, and in my mind i can only figure $600 was taken because there was only $622 in the account. I got on card support and was told there was no way to put that cash back. So to keep the transaction "transformational and not transactional" in utter frustration closed the card, and paid the remaining $136. I did let the card rep know I didn't blame them personally, but without a doubt Goldman Sachs is no Apple.

Rather than rushing to complete a task in unknown territory, contact an Apple Card Specialist at Goldman Sachs Bank.

You also have access to members in Apple Support Community and numerous support articles that Apple and Goldman publish. I’ll link to several resources and the contact information for Apple Card Specialists at Goldman Sachs Bank.

You can’t turn Scheduled Payments (Auto Pay) on without selecting an amount. What would you be auto paying if there is no amount set? Please see photo below of second screen in which you have select an amount before turning it on.

You probably accidentally turned it on and the default is pay the statement balance (not account balance). Installment payments are added each month to the minimum payment due, if you had charges the prior statement.

The correct choice would have been to select minimum due. This would have satisfied you installment payments and possibly prevented any interest charges, depending in past usage and payment history. I can understand how you made the mistake, but I don’t see where the blame falls on Goldman Sachs or Apple for your lack of understanding how the app works or how installment charges and payment works.

Well, I could have easily dismissed this previous event as early onset of Alzheimer's or the like, as I usually assume the first time was likely my fault, but this wasn't the first time. I had a iPhone 14 on installment plan and later in the year bought the new MacMini with the M2 Pro chip. Paid for it with the card, (non installment) and a day later sent the payment to the card from my bank. Low and behold the payment was applied to the iPhone debt, even thought the amount was to the penny identical amount owed for the Mini purchase. I then called Goldman Sachs and was told there was nothing that could be done as the installment debt had completed the agreement. So I haven ever blamed Apple for the inconsistencies in facilitation of the Apple Card, and I do affirm Goldman Sachs is NO Apple.
