My brother passed away and I tried to access his iPhone with codes I thought would unlock it and got locked out. I will be getting a death certificate and POA for his estate. Is there anyway to unlock his phone?

I tried to unlock his iPhone and entered the wrong code too many times and no it is locked. He passed away and I am awaiting a death certificate and POA. How can I unlock his iPhone. I do have access to his email. I do not have access to his Apple ID. I am not sure if it is the same as his email password.

Basically, no. By flowing the process to gain access to his icloud account, you can access any data he has stored in the cloud, including backups, but it is not possible to bypass the lock code on the phone itself without erasing it completely.
