Display Unresponsive after IOS 17 Update

The Display was already having issues with the touch and haptics. It was having issues prior to an accidental drop where the screen has cracks on the bottom, right-hand front screen. Ever since then it got worse and I have had to enable many Accessibility options to help navigate the device.

Today I plugged it into my computer and it says the firmware needed to be update to 17.1.1. or .2 which i thought it did when I updated the software last time but apparently not.

Now after the update has finished, the screen that remains is a bright white screen that says, "Swipe up to recover" and the screen is completely unresponsive to any and all touch.

Is the only fix to Restore?

Given the display was cracked and failures already evident prior to the update, get a backup soonest and if at all possible, and then get the display repaired or get the device replaced.

If there are no backups, the data on the device may well have been lost.

Damaged displays and cracks and corrosion and problems with the touch screen never get better.

How fast things will degrade further varies.
