Post iPad OS update on iPad Pro M4, “Display Not Recognized”

This morning my screen was becoming unresponsive to touch. I’ve been using this new iPad (which is updated to iPad OS 18), purchased directly from Apple.com, since its release without issue. I rebooted it and the following message popped up. I’m assuming it’s an instability with the most recent iPad OS 18 update? I know there have been bricking issues with the iPad Pro and the update has been removed.

“Display Not Recognized

This can happen if the display is not a genuine Apple part or was installed incorrectly. As a result, privacy indicators that let you know when your camera or microphone is in use may not work properly. View more details in Parts & Service History in Settings.”

Anyone else experiencing this?

While we can’t definitively say this was caused by the iOS update, the “Display Not Recognized” notification can appear if your device was purchased or repaired by a third-party seller with a non-genuine part. Since you mentioned purchasing it from Apple, this could also indicate an issue with your screen.
