Can I turn off my old phone during transfer data to a new iPhone and start over? IOS 17.0.2 is taking forever on new phone.

Transferring data from old XR to new 13. All went smooth until it came time for new 13 to update to IOS 17.0.2. It has been nearly 2 hours and the new 13 still says installing with no signs of progress. Old XR is waiting for update on 13 to complete before finishing transfers. Can I power both phones down and start over? Or am I being impatient?

I quit the transfer. Stuck scrolling all night. I turned off the new iPhone and started over but differently. I plugged into my MacBook, made the update to 17.0.2 first then my transfer prompt came up to start moving everything to my phone. 15 minutes and I was done.

Thanks for reaching out DaddyO2,

It sounds like the update on your iPhone 13 may have gotten stuck. We can help.

You can definitely try and see if there's any improvement if you Restart your iPhone. If not, you can try updating your device manually if you're using a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or if you're using a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier or a Windows PC.

Hope that helps.

Take care.
