macbook wrong time without Internet

When there is no internet conection, the time on my macbook is always late. For example, if I disconnected the Internet at 12a.m., then the shown time was 18p.m. at 22p.m. If I connected the Internet at 22p.m., it jumped from 18p.m. to 22p.m. I wonder if it is normal for mac, if not, is there any solution to it? Thanks.

MacBook keeps messing up time My macbook air 2019 keeps messing up my time, sometimes date. I have restarted it, it is completely up to date, I have tried setting it automatically and as soon as I do that or turn that off and on it goes to the wrong time. when I manually set the time it eventually messes up the time again. this happens when my laptop is plugged in and when it is not. i have entered this command in terminal: sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com / sudo sntp -sS in.pool.ntp.org this fixes it temporarily but then it happens again. any solutions? seems like it started happening after software update but I’m not positive. unrelated side note: posting this question from my iPhone because I wasn’t able to on the MacBook. Keeps saying session expired and I need to log back in right when I try. Happens in chrome and safari

Macbook showing wrong time My macbook is showing wrong time i have tried everything from older posts to correct my time. things i have done: Restarting setting automatic time setting off and on The best option that worked for me is typing this in terminal: sudo sntp -sS time.apple.com It sets my time to the correct one but for temporarily. After some time it goes back to showing the wrong time Its 1 December today and it always get set to 25 November. I have a Macbook pro 2019 model with MacOs sonoma Version 14.1.2

Why do you ever disconnect from the internet? Macs are designed to work with the internet. They can do local work without the web, but primarily they are designed for an active connection.

I've never had your problem, but the only time I disconnect from the internet is when the power goes off or my ISP has problems.

When there is no Internet connection, the time on windows and android can be shown correctly because of the CMOS chip. I would like to know if the mac has such design to make sure the time is correct, or the time is only obtained from Internet. Thank you.
