Why doesn’t a timer set on my apple watch also show up on my iphone and vice versa?

When I set a timer using my apple watch, I’d also like to be able to control it through my iphone that the watch is paired with, or at the very least see the countdown on my phone. How do I do this? Or if I can’t, why hasn’t Apple made this feature available?

Does it seem to work no longer? It worked in the past, but some innovation has ruined it

If you want it to work on both you need to set the timer on the iPhone and then it will also go off on your watch. You can’t do it the other way around. In the Watch App on iPhone go to Clock and enable “ Push Alerts from iPhone” Note, the phone needs to be locked to sound on your Watch or it assumes you’re looking at your phone. On the watch you can push the crown to snooze and the side button to stop.
