Does Double Tap on Watch Series 9 not work for Timers?

I have a new Series 9 Apple Watch, and have the Double Tap gesture turned on. When a Timer is done, I thought I'd be able to use Double Tap to turn the Timer done alarm off, but, it doesn't seem to work for that function. Do I need to do something else to make Double Tap work to turn off the Timer done alarm? I can't understand why it won't work for something like that? That's often when I need that gesture to work.

I’ve been having the same trouble, this is one of my most commonly used actions on the watch. I just went to my settings, and then to Tips on the watch and it told me that I must raise my wrist before double tapping. I did that and it works, but Apple needs to fix this, so it can work with arms in various positions.
