The message about the browser needing updated usually depends on the iOS version you are using and the site you are visiting.

This is old but its much more likely it has to do with privacy mode in Safari.

Perhaps you were in privacy mode and downloaded a file?

I could be wrong but a “bug on apples part” is almost certainly not what it is.

Same here and I am unable to edit the access which is absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah I have this too! And with mail, as well. It sucks because whatever this is has changed the dates and locations on more than a decades worth of photos and videos and my pictures are scattered to the winds. This is just the tip of the iceberg as safari itself is being reported as not being updated by several sites yet the app store insists it’s fine and Apple says so too. In fact every browser I download is reported as being outdated and safari barely works. Apple insists it’s fine.

I’m sure that is just a bit of a bug on Apple’s part. I recently updated my iPad to iPadOS 17, and I have it too!
