Using a 'shape mask' when colour grading -- can I create a 'Draw Mask'?

The shape mask in the inspector is pretty simple, a circle, oblong, rectangle, square. I'm wondering if there is a way to create a shape mask similar to the 'Draw Mask' ... so I can do something a bit more elaborate?

I want to stay in FCPX for the grading.

Not directly, but there are some options. You could add a duplicate of your clip, placed directly above it, apply the Draw Mask to the top copy and do a separate grade for the two.

Or you can add more than one shape mask, adding and subtracting as needed, to approximate the rest of a Draw Mask. And, of course, there’s also a Color Mask.
