How do I stop pictures I take in the message app from saving in my camera roll?

I’m not talking about when people send me photos. I mean when I take photos and send them, why do they automatically save? Can I stop that?

Photos in message chat unavailable My photos that are in my message chats all get to the completed circle to be downloaded that it instructs me to do by tapping on the photo and when I soft hold over the photo I get option on top “reply” and option below “more” and when I click on “more” it’s only allowing me to check mark it to be deleted.

iPhone 15 Pro automatically adds images from messages to Photos library My 15 pro suddenly (last 2 weeks?) automatically adds any photo I open that was attached to a message, regardless of the platform, to my photo library. I want to cancel this behavior, but have no idea what setting enables it. None of 18.2 Photos settings seem to apply. Any ideas? The images now automatically getting uploaded to my photos library can originally have been attachments to email, message posts, Whatsapp posts, Messages posts, etc. [Re-Titled by Moderator]
