How to prevent accidental app delete on iphone

It seems like a lot of people have this issue: nearly a half-dozen times a day I fat-finger my phone and it goes into Home Screen edit mode and starts deleting apps. Is there a way to prevent this, like setting a passcode or something? I waste so much time trying to restore apps I never intended to delete…

Hello Collision Bend,

You could use Screen Time to disallow apps to be deleted.

On your iPhone, open Settings and go to Screen Time. Turn on Screen Time if you are not currently using it. Go to “Content & Privacy Restrictions”, activate “Content & Privacy Restrictions”, go to “iTunes &App Store Purchases”, then “Deleting Apps” and choose “Don’t Allow.”

No, there is no way to turn off this functionality. It's intrinsic to iOS. Try to turn off your screen before placing it in your pocket (for instance). You only need to press the lateral button to turn the screen off. Once the screen off, you should no longer have the issue as you would need Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode to unlock your iPhone.
