How do I get my iPhone (11) to start charging the battery if it no longer works automatically when I plug in the charging cable? Even with 21% remaining capacity, the charging process is not triggered even after about an hour of connection to the mains (or after "nervously" plugging off/on)! It only works sporadically and that's annoying.

Might be so, thanks, but in this case it's different: charging process currently has started "automatically" when 20 % is reached after being plugged for over one hour. So the cable itself or dirt is obviously not the problem. I think it would be helpful to have a "button" to say "charge now" but there isn't – or did I miss it?

I can't find in the settings how to advise to charge even if capacity is above 20 %; so the automatism has to be in proper function – if not, alas, there is a problem, you see. With modern electric devices, sometimes there are such problems hard to solve, you can't fix it with a screw driver, haha!
