thunderbolt display not working after Ventura 13.5.1 update

My Thunderbolt display monitor no longer connects to my MacBook Air. It worked on Friday but didn't work on Monday, which looks like it was after the recent Ventura 13.5.1 update. I have another MacBook still running on Monterey 12.6.5 and the monitor connects just fine, so I know it is not the monitor. Any suggestions?

I am using a T2 to T3 adapter. I’ve tried both ports. Nothing else is plugged in. The monitor with the same adapter connects just fine to another MacBook that has not been updated the the latest MacOS (Ventura 15.3.1). That’s why I suspect that it’s the latest update that’s causing the issue, but looking for anyone else that may have the same issue.
