Using two HP minis with Apple TV 4K at my Mothers home. Same problem, have them paired as stereo setup but one homepod always disconnects and does not react to volume up or down and does not react to siri commands too. Tried to unpair and restart them days ago and then it worked again. But today, same problem, I tried restarting, unpairing and pairing and I cant get them running as stereo speakers with Apple TV. After the pairing etc, I was able to play a song on both and both reacted to volume up and down. After playing a movie on Apple TV, same problem. I turn the volume down with siri command or with the remote and only one (the right one I guess) homepod mini reacts to that, the other still plays sound. I think they should fix this bug soon. I bought the Apple TV 4k and the two homepod minis for my Mother as she now watches TV and else on the device but is not cool with it not working correct anymore.

Sorry, its not about pausing play, its about the volume while im playing music. When i play music and i put the volume down to zero, i can still hear music through one of my homepods.
What model of HomePod is it? Perhaps you have the same issue with paired HomePods not adjusting their volume correctly. If you use the volume controls on the device, or in the Home app, and drive the volume all the way to zero does that HomePod still play sound?

The HomePod should stop playing if you tap the centre of the top of it to pause. You should also be able to pause it from the source device if you are using AirPlay.

The homepods are about 2 years old and its always the same homepod that i can hear sound from even when the volume bar is at zero. Ive tried several devices including the home app.
