Turn off blue alerts but not all emergency alerts

11:20pm phone goes off like crazy .. a cop was shot.. what can I do about it… why am I not alerted when a cop shoots someone … seems like an abuse of the alert system and will lead to people shutting it off and missing real alerts.

I want to shut off blue, camo alerts but not the others. Is there a way to do that?

"Seems to me that the reasoning behind putting out a public alert if someone shot a cop is: if the crook can shoot a cop, a law enforcement officer, then he can easily shoot an unarmed citizen, such as yourself."

yes, and every other bad actor with a gun that shoots someone who isn't a law enforcement officer can also shoot anyone else if they remain at large. curiously, we don't get unsilenceable alerts about those criminals. just the ones who shoot cops.

Hello Anonymeat!

11:20pm phone goes off like crazy

As emergency alerts tend to do.

.. a cop was shot..

Seems to me that the reasoning behind putting out a public alert if someone shot a cop is: if the crook can shoot a cop, a law enforcement officer, then he can easily shoot an unarmed citizen, such as yourself.

what can I do about it…

Pray for the cop and the crook.

why am I not alerted when a cop shoots someone …

You are, but everything has to be “in place”. Thank you lovely media. Remember, when the crook starts shooting at you, the first guys you’ll call are cops.

seems like an abuse of the alert system

You are entitled to your opinion.

and will lead to people shutting it off and missing real alerts.

That’s on them.

I want to shut off blue, camo alerts but not the others.

Please go to: Settings > Notifications. Now, scroll to the very bottom. These are the different types of alerts which you can shut off. I’m not sure if the alert types vary from country to country, or not. I’m in Canada, and I see: AMBER Alerts, Emergency Alerts, Public Safety Alerts, and Test Alerts.

Have a nice day, and good luck!
